TraceTogether-only SafeEntry
(TT-only SE)

TraceTogether (TT) is a digital contact tracing tool that helps the Ministry of Health quickly identify close contacts of COVID-19 cases while preserving user privacy. You can watch this 1-min video to see how TT works.

What is a TT-only SE venue?

It refers to a location where SafeEntry has been implemented, and where all individuals need to use their TT App or Token for SafeEntry check-in.

Why is it needed?

This ensures all visitors have their TT App activated, or have their Tokens with them before entering the venue.

When will TraceTogether-only SafeEntry (TT-only SE) be rolled out?

Currently, TT-only SE is implemented at selected venues, specifically Cinemas, selected Places of Worship (with >100 pax), Live Performances, MICE events, Cruises and selected Nightlife Entertainment venues on re-opening pilots.

Visitors who do not have TT App or Token can still do SafeEntry check-in at these venues (except for Cruises and Nightlife Entertainment venues on re-opening pilots) by having their NRIC/FIN/photo IDs scanned.

At all other venues where SafeEntry is required, TT-only SE will only be implemented on 17 May 2021.

Commonly asked questions

How do I check in at a TraceTogether-only SafeEntry (TT-only SE) venue?

You can check in at a TT-only SE venue using the TT App or Token.

Using the TraceTogether App*:

  1. Download it here.
  2. Register with your identification details.
(this allows MOH to accurately contact you if you had exposure to COVID-19)
You can see more detailed instructions here.
  3. To check in SafeEntry, scan the venue’s SafeEntry QR code, or bring your TraceTogether App-enabled phone near a SafeEntry Gateway device.

Using the TraceTogether Token:

  1. Collect a TT Token at your designated community centre.
(Go to the Token Go Where website for collection details).
  2. Bring your Token with you when you go out.
  3. To check in SafeEntry, bring the Token near a SafeEntry Gateway device, or get the Token QR scanned.

Your Token is working if a green light blinks about once a minute. If the Token is blinking red, or if there is no light, replace the Token at any Community Club/Centre (CC) or Token replacement booths in selected malls.

What does TraceTogether-only SafeEntry (TT-only SE) mean to the venues required to implement it?

For sectors that are required to implement TT-only SE now (except for Cruises and selected Nightlife Entertainment venues on re-opening pilots.)

Please note that scanning barcodes on visitors’ NRIC/FIN/photo IDs and manual keying in of their NRIC/FIN/ID/Passport numbers are still allowed during this transition period.

For all other business sectors

Please do not enable TT-only SE now. TT-only SE will only be implemented at your venues on 17 May 2021. The mode will be automatically activated in the SafeEntry system on that day.

When TT-only SE is implemented, the SafeEntry system will automatically activate a feature to accept only check-ins using TT App or Token. Venue operators should only allow entry to individuals who have checked into SafeEntry using their TT App or Token.

The following check-in modes will no longer be permitted:

Scanning of the venue QR code using Singpass App, mobile phone camera or other QR code reader apps

Scanning barcodes on NRIC/FIN/other photo IDs

Manual keying in of ID numbers

What do I need to do now to prepare for TraceTogether-only SafeEntry (TT-only SE only)?

Public-facing venues* need to implement Token scanning check-in mode immediately.

Detailed instructions can be found here.

Replace existing SafeEntry posters with new ones.

Before TT-only SE is implemented, a new poster with updated SafeEntry check-in instructions will be sent to your business email. Please note that the existing QR codes for all venues will not change.

Do venues need to generate a new TraceTogether-only SafeEntry (TT-only SE) QR code that is different from their existing SafeEntry QR code?

The existing QR codes for all venues will not change. If venues have printed their QR codes on customised collaterals, there is no need to make changes, unless they contain instructions that are not consistent with TT-only SE, e.g. instructions to use Singpass App or QR code reader app to check in.

Do venues within a larger TraceTogether-only SafeEntry (TT-only SE) venue also have to implement TT-only SE?

Yes, if it is a venue where SafeEntry is required. For example, within a TT-only SE mall, dine-in F&B outlets and gyms are also required to implement TT-only SE.
